Music Review: Mary J Blige – Right Now

mary-j-blige-right-nowMary J Blige the Queen of Hip Hop Soul is on a mission to spread her love of London City around the world as she dedicates an entire album to the home of Buckingham Palace and Notting Hill Carnival.

The London Sessions by Mary J Blige looks set to put the singer back on the music map in genre defying style as her soon to be released single ‘Right Now’ captures the new wave of electronic dance music surging through the charts courtesy of producers Disclosure.

Mary J Blige has caught house fever, and this laidback beat thumping number displays Disclosure’s signature sound that has been sweeping London Groove Soul Saturdays parties. Right Now is not only written by Disclosure but also Sam Smith, and Jimmy Napes, as they tell the classic tale of a woman finding the strength to walk away from a man that’s been doing her wrong.

Lyrics include: ‘I’m telling you right now, no I wont play this game with you, im taking it back now, im turning it right around my love wont be the same for you no more.’ Vocally Mary sings with a more subdued style in the theme of a woman scorned creating a very classy R&B performance over this chilled out synth filled groove.

Right Now wont be filling any big room raves not without a few remixes however this mellow but funky dance track will get you head nodding and wet your appetite to hear what else Mary’s dream team of Emile Sande, Naughty Boy, Sam Smith and Disclosure have in store on the London Sessions.
