2009 Pride Of London Parade

One of the largest pub, bar and London nightclub events that takes place annually is the Pride of London event which begins this year at 1pm on 4th July across the whole of Trafalgar Square, Soho and Baker Street.

This is the time when the Pride of London’s homosexuals, transsexuals and heterosexuals get togetherand enjoy a street festival in the heart of London at Trafalgar Square – the party celebrations are carried through most of the bars and London nightclubs within the area.

The Pride of London Festival 2009 promises to be an extremely flamboyant affair and will be feistier than ever before this year.

This huge two week party in London is one of the largest events celebrated in the UK that symbolises equality and freedom and this year there are expected to be 500,000 people attending from London and other areas of the UK.

A huge colourful parade passes through the centre of Trafalgar Square, past all surrounding London nightclubs and bars. It involves a huge array of glittering floats, street performers and people dressed in costume and the theme for this year is ‘come out and play.’ The parade will continue down Baker Street, on to Oxford Street and Regent Street ending at Whitehall.

The centre of Trafalgar Square is where the central festival stage is situated – live bands across all music genres play to the crowds.  The line-up in 2008 consisted of Ian McKellan and Pink Singers, Sandi Thom, Culture Beat and dance vocalist Amrick Channa. This year’s line-up is yet to be announced.

Some of the events due to take place during the festival are taking place from 20th June to 5th July 2009 in and around London nightclubs and bars with a handful listed below.
