Warehouse turned unlikely London celebrity nightclub venue closes
A disused Victorian warehouse would seem a strange choice for various celebrities eager to sample the famous London nightlife. However, the popular celebrity venue project is now headed for Paris.
The venue was opened for six months from November 2008. Harvey Weinstein was said to have hosted a post-Bafta party at the Double Club. The impressive who’s who list of celebrities attending the bash included rock legend Mick Jagger and the Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz.
Other celebrity events were held at the hip venue which regularly attracted over 900 people to its doors.
The outside of the nightclub was nothing special to look at but designed by the Belgian artist Carsten Höller and funded by the Prada Foundation, the venue was certainly different from other nightclubs in London.
The club, which was proud to combine music with art, recently closed on the 12th of July when Bryan Ferry played a private concert for lucky guests. It had attracted a diverse clientele with celebrities mixing with contemporary and gallery artists and designers.
London is spoilt for choice when it comes to its nightlife and the number of nightclubs there are, so we’re sure these celebs will be able to find some other great venues to while away a few hours.
