Robin Thicke - Magic : Released Sept 08
Fresh from his UK Top 10 single ‘Lost Without U’ and collaborations with Lil Wayne & 50 Cent, Robin Thicke is about to drop ‘Something Else’ on the unsuspecting public. ‘Something Else’ is the follow up to the multi platinum album ‘The Evolution of Robin Thicke’. This album is a nod to musical greats like McFadden & Whitehead and The Sound of Philadelphia, Motown’s Marvin Gaye but all with a modern twist and a sprinkle of Robin’s magic dust. The new single ‘Magic’ (as used in the Samsung Soul Phone advert) is an instant hit the second the strings snap into action, the horns fire up, and the drums march you on a journey with Robin’s voice leading the way to a better place. People are really feeling this in the clubs, summertime's finally here. |

N-E-R-D - Seeing Sound (Album) & Everyone Nose : Released Aug 08
Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past decade, you should already know who The Neptunes are. Think about some of your favourite songs you've heard in night clubs. Whether they be hip hop, pop, rock or RnB, there's a good chance the The Neptunes have been at the helm. Their third album 'Seeing Sounds' is now released and the album's first single 'Everybody Nose' is a prime example of N*E*R*D's genre-defying music, with its proclaimed taunts (“All the ladies standing in the line for the bathroom!”). The track is driven by a thundering bass that gives way to a deep, drum-heavy rhythm track; the song careers between the head-nodding bravado of hip-hop and the body-moving energy of dance or punk music. The new album 'Seeing Sounds' is a blistering mash-up of booming hip-hop beats, rollercoaster rock riffs, rumbling crunk rhythms and scintillating soul music. A song like 'Killjoy' moves at a quick clip, with a fierce percussive breakdown serving at its emotional centre. 'Anti-Matter' moves through several different tempos, flirting with psychedelic guitar funk and a dirty south bounce. 'Spaz' has the complex rhythms of Indian music before eventually giving way to noisy breaks. 'Sooner or Later' evokes the elegance of ‘60s UK pop, while 'Yeah You' is a first-person account of having a female stalker and flirts with smooth, ‘70s soul-jazz. “We don’t care about genres. Why would we?" says Pharrell of the group's third album. "For us, it was just about being what we are. We aren’t limited by anything other than our imaginations and what we feel, so why would we make music packaged into a little box?

Pure Urban Essential : (Album) : Released July 08
'Pure Urban Essentials'... may not be so 'Pure Urban' with the likes of Madonna kicking off the proceedings but we really like this double value for money album.
Here's a few tracks so you can get a flavour, but it doesn't stop there as there's more than meets the eye. If you haven't brought a tune in a while, then this will help you catch-up and more.
CD1 Wiley 'Rolex', Estelle 'American Boy', Alicia Keys 'No One' and Nelly Furtado 'Say It Right' still all sit nicely. Add Natty 'Cold Town', the inform Chris Brown 'Kiss Kiss' and even when they go off at a tangent with P.Diddy 'Last Night', House Of Pain 'Jump Around' and Kelly Rowland's 'Work' you aren't tempted to press the 'next track' button.
CD2 Goes slightly older in the tune ratio after coming out of the starting blocks with Ironik 'Stay With Me', the sublime Lupe Fiasco's 'Superstar' and as Usher signals with the next track 'Caught Up' - you catch up in style with some tunes you haven't herd in a while. With the likes of 'Wyclef 'Perfect Gentleman', Cassidy 'Hotel', R Kelly 'Ignition', Sean Paul 'We Be Burnin' to name a few we think this is a solid compilation to have on the shelf or in the glovebox.

Ray J - All I Feel :(Album) : Released Aug 08
The super talented recording artist Ray J is set to release his US number 1 album in the UK, to further solidify his title as the #1 independent recording artist in music. His forthcoming album 'All I Feel' has all the makings of a chart smash. Ray J can continue to stand on his music pedestal with this superior collection of R&B beats.
Ray J's smash hit, 'Sexy Can I,' feat. Yung Berg, is the lead single on 'All I Feel', and is already getting tons of airplay on radio.
Following on from the success of his last single, 'One Wish', the teen star - turned hot stuff- proved his place as the top R&B male solo artist with an impressive stint of 65 weeks in the UK charts. Now Ray J is back to give us more of his catchy ballads about being the other man, clubbing and his other ‘favourite' things in life.
